The Trinity Centre Learning
2020 saw the opening of an innovative new learning precinct, the Trinity Centre, to enhance the St Rita’s education experience for all students. The Trinity Centre redevelopment project is the largest build to occur at St Rita's.
During its 90-year history, St Rita’s College has always shown the ability to adapt and evolve. Boys and boarders have come and gone. Ten principals have stood at the helm and many notable students have passed through the halls. What began as a seemingly impossible cause - the College is named after St Rita of Cascia, the Saint for Impossible Causes - has flourished into being one of the jewels of girls’ education in Brisbane.

St Rita’s is bolstering the academic, arts and communal experience for its girls. Our new learning precinct resources learning, performance, examinations, speaker programs, student social interaction and College-wide functions and events.
The design of the Trinity Centre highlights the College’s proud heritage, employing the words NANO and RITA into an architectural style that reflects St Rita’s distinctive charm. It is an important landmark in today’s modern and global educational landscape, bringing together under one roof many existing programs and giving greater efficiency to our well-rounded educational experience.

The Trinity Centre represents a notable improvement and space increase on the multi-purpose Kennedy Building which has served St Rita’s since the 1930s and the Trinity Centre which opened in 1982. The building provides exceptional learning spaces for a range of subjects, and is home to the performing arts and film, television and new media programs. The 400-seat auditorium, equipped with the latest in audio-visual technology, offers our students a state-of-the-art venue for drama, musical theatre, ensemble, band and solo performance, as well as guest speakers and lectures, staff and student meetings. The large and small musical instruction rooms are welcomed by our music individual teaching and ensemble staff. The Centre boasts a grand foyer as its entrance, honouring our Prix d’Honneurs, Duxes and College Captains across the years and provides a generous gallery and function space where student art can be showcased in both permanent and temporary exhibits.
Offers 12 new General Learning classrooms to serve all students
These new classrooms provide high-quality learning spaces which cater for the needs of our interactive and technology-driven learning environment. The rooms can be readily subdivided or united as instructional needs require. The flexible design of the classrooms allow teaching staff to embrace contemporary pedagogies more effectively and supports the faculties in moving beyond the traditional classroom experience.
Integrates the College’s performing arts and film, television and new media classes into one facility that promotes collaboration of the arts under one roof
The Trinity Centre allows St Rita’s to develop its arts curriculum, enhance its signature programs and give students new opportunities to broaden their learning. As we set the stage for growth in a traditionally high-achieving discipline, the consolidation of the arts will free up classroom space for other learning disciplines.
Film, Television and New Media are our primary sources of information and entertainment and the rooms for learning are equipped with a full surround sound movie cinema and green room with specialist lighting to enable the means for our FTV students to think, question, create and communicate by designing, producing and critiquing film, television (TV) and new media products in the latest formats and genres.
Presents Music students with access to enviable music instruction and performance facilities
The Trinity Centre allows St Rita’s music students to take a professional Centre Stage and is an electric venue for individual and group instruction and performance. Double-story height band and strings rooms bring outstanding acoustics. A general learning classroom and eleven soundproofed and digitally equipped instrumental practice and rehearsal rooms give our girls access to exceptional learning facilities. The inclusion of a mixing room for recording and playback of rehearsals, lessons and performances provides the girls with new opportunities to realise their creative potential.
