Primary students fly into 2023 with new playground Primary students fly into 2023 with new playground

The new St Rita’s College Primary playground has been a hive of activity after being officially opened at the start of this Term.

Designed by Bespoke Playgrounds, the new attraction features many obstacles including a rock-climbing wall, flying fox, monkey bars, spider web and a rope bridge.

Construction kicked off in November last year, finishing three weeks before school commenced.

St Rita’s College Head of Primary, Ms Georgina Howard, said Primary students now had an opportunity to play on a playground that offers them a fun and enjoyable range of adventurous activities.

“The unveiling of our new Primary Playground has been one of the most highly anticipated events in the Primary calendar,” Ms Howard said.

“The playground has been designed with care to ensure it is age-appropriate and invigorating, providing students with an enjoyable play option that is as fun as it is challenging.

“Last year, Mrs Morrow worked with Year 5 students to ensure the playground design met their needs, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you to all involved in creating this incredible space for our Primary students!”

Students said they are loving the new playground at lunchtime, and Year 6 in particular are grateful they now have a special place to enjoy.

Year 6 students Ava B and Ava M both said they were happy that there were more places to play during lunch.

Fellow Year 6 student Isabelle agreed the playground made a difference this year.

“Last year we had the Flat to play tag on and Assumpta to play handball, but now we have lots of equipment to climb and play on with our friends,” Isabelle said.

There are already many beloved obstacles like the climbing nets and log bridge on the playground, but the new flying fox takes out the title for fan favourite.
