Water Polo team claims National bronze Water Polo team claims National bronze
A St Rita’s College Water Polo team had plenty to celebrate over the weekend after taking out bronze at the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships in Chandler last week.
The U16 team played a fantastic game and won 9 – 5 against strong University of New South Wales team, the ‘Killer Whales’.
Their victory comes after a super week for the U16s, who secured a place in the semi finals on Wednesday.
St Rita’s Water Polo Coordinator and former Olympian Jodie Stuhmcke said the hard work of the girls had certainly paid off.
“I am extremely proud of the team with their performance at the Youth Championships,” Ms Stuhmcke said.
“It was a fantastic team game and they have trained so hard to improve their result from seventh to third this year.”
The KAP7 Australian Youth Water Polo Championships event involves over 180 teams from across the country and runs for two weeks in January.
The U16 win follows another by the College’s U14 team at last month’s state titles.
