Immersions Spirituality
Through our inspiring and distinctive immersion program, students are offered an authentic experience of leadership as service in solidarity with the world’s poor and marginalised.
It is our vision that students who experience an immersion will enter into the service of others and become advocates for those who are voiceless.
Murgon Immersion
This one-week immersion to the regional town of Murgon provides Year 10 students with an opportunity to connect with a Presentation heritage school and to deepen their understanding of Indigenous culture and the Indigenous experience of injustice.
Red Earth Immersion
The purpose of this nine-day immersion is to provide students in Years 11 and 12 with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Indigenous culture and the challenges facing Indigenous communities in North Queensland or Arnhem Land. The program is based on a ‘Give, Grow and Lead’ model. Students fund and build a simple infrastructure project (e.g. shed, vegetable garden, chook pen) and learn from Elders about Indigenous culture.
Cambodia Immersion
This two-week immersion challenges Year 11 students with an experience of cultural differences and a context in which they can critique the effects of violence on populations and the causes and consequences of poverty for communities. Students assist at a school for disabled children established by the Marist Brothers and visit the floating village of Prek Toal on the Tonle Sap Lake.
India Immersion
Our India immersion provides Year 11 students with an experience of cultural differences and a context in which they can critique the causes and consequences of poverty and social stratification for communities. During this two-week immersion, students visit a number of Presentation schools and ministries in and around Chennai including a dispensary and remote nursery and primary school.
Longreach Immersion
This one-week immersion allows Year 11 students to experience the lifestyle of rural Queensland and deepen their understanding of the challenges of drought and its impact on graziers and outback communities. The Presentation story in Queensland began in 1900 when the Sisters established their Mother House in Longreach. Our Lady’s College, a primary school in Longreach, was the first Presentation school in Queensland.
